RIO RANCHO — The Rio Rancho Police Department identified an alleged jaywalker that was hit by a car during the overnight hours from July 3-4.

RRPD Capt. Jacquelynn Reedy stated Armando Begay is recovering and the driver that hit him is not being charged.

Begay had been hospitalized after a car allegedly hit him at the intersection of Southern Boulevard and Tarpon Avenue.

At the time, Reedy confirmed the preliminary investigation revealed that a driver was traveling westbound Southern Boulevard during a green light. An adult male pedestrian jaywalked across Southern near the area of Tarpon during heavy rainfall and was struck by the vehicle, she stated.

The male was transported to an area hospital.
