Outdoor pools open May 25; Aquatic Center to see extended summer hours
Rio Rancho's outdoor municipal pools are slated to open for the season May 25, and the aquatic center will see extended hours beginning May 28.
Pool locations and hours of operation are:
Cabezon Recreation Center Pool
This pool will be open for recreational swimming from noon to 6 p.m. daily May 25 to Aug. 4. Lap swim is available during open ours.
Haynes Community Center Pool
From May 25 to Aug. 11, recreational swimming will be available from noon to 6 p.m. daily. From Aug. 17 to Sept. 2, days of operation reduce to Saturday and Sunday. Lap swimming will be available during open hours.
Rainbow Pool

This pool will maintain hours for three types of swimming. Recreational swimming will be available from noon to 6 p.m. daily from May 25 to Aug. 11. Lap swimming will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Water aerobics will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Monday and Wednesday.
The daily fee to use any of the outdoor pools is $4. The fee for children ages 2-12, as well as adults 55 years of age and older, is $3 per day. Rio Rancho Aquatic Center
This facility is open year-round and will have extended summer operating hours from May 28 through Aug. 4. The center will close on May 27 for Memorial Day, June 19 for Juneteenth, July 4 for Independence Day and from Aug. 7-11 for annual maintenance. The center does not open until 2 p.m. on the first Monday of each month to allow for regular maintenance.
Summer hours for recreational swimming for all ages are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, noon to 7 p.m. Friday, and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Lap swim, for adults only, is available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The number of lanes available will vary throughout the day, with two lap lanes available from 5-7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
