A freeze and wind warning have been issued for the Rio Rancho and Albuquerque area for Sunday night.
According to the Albuquerque National Weather Service, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 26 expected for the metro area tonight. For the wind advisory, expect east winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected below canyons.
The freeze and wind advisory are expected to last from 6 p.m. Sunday to Monday morning.
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap, drain or allow them to drip slowly.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
