National Park Service issues Historic Preservation Fund grants to New Mexico

The National Park Service announced May 6 that it will issue Historic Preservation Fund grants for more than $2.7 million in grants to New Mexico, and the tribes, pueblos and nations in the state.

The State Historic Preservation Office Grant to New Mexico is for $1,060,235.

The Tribal Preservation Grant Awardees in New Mexico are:

Jicarilla Apache Nation: $131,052

Mescalero Apache Tribe: $123,916

Pueblo of Acoma: $123,076

Pueblo of Isleta: $119,820

Pueblo of Jemez: $110,297

Pueblo of Laguna: $124,777

Pueblo of Pojoaque: $99,592

Pueblo of San Felipe: $107,734

Pueblo of San Ildefonso: $105,251

Pueblo of Santa Ana: $109,112

Pueblo of Santa Clara: $107,242

Pueblo of Tesuque: $101,028

“These Historic Preservation Fund grants will go a long way to supporting projects that protect the history of New Mexico and the cultures and traditions of the 23 tribes, pueblos and nations across the state, including Isleta, Laguna and Santa Ana Pueblos, and Mescalero Apache Tribe right here in the New Mexico First,” said U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury. “Preserving our state's diverse history allows us to honor our roots — from our ancestors who blazed the trail to our precious lands that we call home — this is a major win for our Indigenous communities. I am overjoyed to see this money coming to the state.”
