Midnight jaywalker sent to hospital from accident

RIO RANCHO — A man has been hospitalized after a car allegedly hit him at the intersection of Southern Boulevard and Tarpon Avenue in the overnight hours from July 3-4.
Rio Rancho Police Department Capt. Jacquelynn Reedy confirmed the preliminary investigation revealed that a driver was traveling westbound Southern Boulevard during a green light. An adult male pedestrian jaywalked across Southern near the area of Tarpon during heavy rainfall and was struck by the vehicle, she stated.
The male was transported to an area hospital and is listed in critical condition, Reedy said.
