Christopher Urias, 31, of Rio Rancho, was summoned Oct. 12 for breaking a window at Sam and Sons Barber Shop on Peggy Road under the charges of disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property costing $1,000-$2,000.

Officers were called to the shop just before 3:40 p.m. on a report of disorderly behavior, when they noticed a window of Nomadic Nutrition, which is located next to the barber shop, was shattered. The barber said the man who broke the window had headed north.

Police found Urias about a half a block away, and he said he broke the window with a trash can lid after becoming angry with himself that no one appeared to like his rapping outside the shop.

Nomadic Nutrition was closed at the time of the incident, but the barber said he heard the loud crash while inside his shop and went out and confronted Urias, who shouted profanities back before fleeing.

Officers released Urias at the time as they were unable to contact the shop owners to determine the value of the window. On Oct. 12, the owner said the damage was around $1,000-$1,2000 for the 6-feet by 4-feet window with five-eighths inch glass.

Urias, if convicted, will serve a little over a year in prison, be required to do community service and pay for the damage.
