A man pleaded guilty and was sentenced March 18 for charges related to a shooting incident that took place in mid-2022.

Bo Monroe, 27, of Rio Rancho, was arrested June 23, 2022, for two counts of negligent use of a deadly weapon, shooting at or from a vehicle and aggravated DWI.

At the time of the crime, officers responded to White Horse and Newcastle drives in reference to a shooting in progress. The caller said a man in a red Charger was shooting a gun and that they heard seven to 10 shots fired.

Officers searched the area and found the vehicle near High Resort Boulevard. When they pulled Monroe over, he appeared to have bloodshot eyes and spoke with slurred speech, according to the criminal complaint. Officers found the gun in the center console of the car. It had one magazine in it with rounds that matched the shells at the crime scene.

The sentence amounts to 4 1/2 years in prison with fines totaling $11,000.
