Douglas Kean, 70, of Rio Rancho, pled guilty to possession of visual medium of sexual exploitation with the 13th Judicial District Court on February 23.

In a grand jury indictment filed last year, it states Kean was in possession of photos depicting prohibited sexual acts. It says Kean knew one or more of the subjects in the photos were under the age of 13.

The state representation and Kean have agreed that Kean will serve a total of 10 years penalty. Up to 5 years will be in prison and the rest will be supervised probation. He will also have to register as a sex offender, receive counseling, report all electronic devices, social media, internet accounts and other digital access sites. He won’t be allowed to have access to any social media, pornography websites, online chat websites or websites designed for file and image sharing. As a requirement, Kean will have to be monitored via a GPS device.

Part of the agreement is that Kean will pay restitution on all charges that come out of the case.

The next step is for the judge to either accept the agreement or deny/change it.
