Anthony Crespin, about 62, of Bernalillo, was arrested for battery upon a health care worker, battery upon a peace officer and fleeing law enforcement Nov. 21 at Sandoval Regional Medical Center.

Officers responded to a call of battery on a nurse working at the hospital.

She said she was trying to help Crespin move his wheelchair down the hall when he struck her with his left elbow. Another nurse witnessed the incident, which was also caught on security footage. The footage shows Crespin appeared to intentionally strike the victim in her chest with his left elbow.

Crespin was placed under arrest and transported without incident. However, once inside the detention center, Crespin attempted to flee out of the entry door and was stopped by corrections officers.

Additionally, while Crespin was being searched by correction officers, he struck one officer in the groin area.

Crespin will face four years in prison if he is convicted.
