Man arrested in car burglary at Wendy's

Jonathan Chavez, 33, of San Felipe Pueblo, was arrested July 26 for aggravated burglary and larceny at Wendy's on NM 528.

Victims said that they were inside the eatery, a man entered their car and stole two bags. Using surveillance from the Whataburger next door, police were able to identify the man as Chavez, who was found at a gas station in Bernalillo.

He admitted that he entered the car and stole the items. After entering, he armed himself with a pocket knife that belonged to the victims.

Chavez could face up to 10 years in prison if he is convicted.
