Brandon Chauncey, 29, of Albuquerque, was arrested for shooting at or from a motor vehicle, aggravated battery against a household member and three counts of aggravated assault a household member with a deadly weapon at the Safelite Apartments May 17.

The victim told police her ex-boyfriend, Chauncey, pointed a gun and shot at her. When Chauncey saw the officers, he immediately began saying another man was the one who shot the.

Chauncey told police he was meeting his ex to pick up some things and that she drove up with the other man in the car. He said the man confronted him and next thing he heard was a gunshot go off. He assumed the man was trying to shoot him and denied shooting at his ex or having a firearm.

The woman's story was different. She said she went out to check on her roommate. When she parked and began to back, out she felt like she had struck a vehicle and saw Chauncey's vehicle parked directly behind hers. She said he got out of the car and started yelling at him, got out and asked him what he was doing. She said he made threats to kill her and began asking where his children were at. He then allegedly pointed a gun at her face. She ducked her head, and a shot went off.

Chauncey then began to drive away.

She attempted to follow him, but he fired another shot. She tried to follow him again, and he allegedly pointed the gun at her. Chauncey then ran away.

A witness confirmed the story was true, adding that Chauncey was also holding a hammer. Additionally, the officers found spent shells at the scene.

Chauncey could face nine years in prison if convicted.
