SAN FELIPE PUEBLO — A man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a woman from her home in San Felipe Pueblo.

Daniel Orozco Perez, 25, of Arizona, was arrested Sept. 25 for kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor firearm possession charge on the 20 block of Rabbit Road.

According to a statement of probable cause, dispatch told police a Pueblo member was being held at gunpoint in a car.

The victim told police a non-member male entered her home with the gun and commanded she go with him, the statement reads. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to shoot her and fired a round at her feet. She went with him out of fear, it states.

He then drove toward Santo Domingo Pueblo, continuing to threaten her. The statement adds that a tire went flat while driving so they pulled over on Rabbit Road in San Felipe. After a resident approached and asked what was going on, they drove a bit further.

The victim said she told Perez to put the gun in her purse so nothing would happen. She added she was trying to comply with him.

She waited until he fell asleep in the car to get help.

She said he kept threatening her and others, saying if Bureau of Indian affairs was seen he’d shoot her and the cops.

Perez could face 20 years to life in prison for the kidnapping.
