ALBUQUERQUE — The “Nutcracker” at Popejoy Hall in Albuquerque is one of the most popular shows of the year.

And a cast member for the past three years, is Lincoln Middle School student Aryn Cofer.

“Sometimes we have a full week of rehearsal; sometimes its 2 or 3 days. We put a lot of work into this,” Cofer said. “I used to watch these shows when I was younger.”

Cofer, a 6th grader at Lincoln, played a mouse in the beloved Holiday classic.

“This show has taught me to just have fun, and find happiness in any moment,” Cofer said.

The show ran from Nov. 30- Dec. 8, and featured talent from the New Mexico Ballet Company who was also joined by the New Mexico Philharmonic and current stars of San Francisco Ballet and New York City Ballet.

“The Sugar Plum Fairy dance is my favorite. The Nutcracker is amazing. If you have the chance next year, you should come and watch it,” Cofer said.
