Kruse to get 2026 trial for December murder

Published Modified

RIO RANCHO — A man who was charged with murdering another man with a shotgun in December won't go to trial until 2026.

Adam Kruse, 58, of Rio Rancho, was charged with first-degree murder Dec. 11 in the 600 block of Clayton Meadows after Josiah Yazzie of Rio Rancho was found dead with a gunshot wound to the chest.

At the time, Kruse declined to talk to police and asked for his attorney. If convicted, he faces life in prison, which equates to 30 years. RRPD said there are no other suspects in the case.

After Kruse was ordered to remain in custody while he awaits trial, Judge George Eichwald slated Kruse's trial date for Jan. 12, 2026, more than a full year after the incident occurred.
