Kruse detained pre-trial
RIO RANCHO (Dec. 20) — The Rio Rancho man accused of murdering a man with a shotgun outside his house Dec. 10 in Northern Meadows will be detained at the county detention center while he awaits trial.
The order to have Adam Kruse, 58, of Rio Rancho, detained pre-trial was given at his detention hearing Dec. 20.
Kruse, according to a criminal complaint, shot through the victim’s open passenger window hitting him with buck shot, breaking the driver’s side window.
The victim was beyond life saving measures.
Kruse was found lying on the ground outside a nearby fence which police believe he jumped to hide the shotgun in the home through the sliding glass door.
According to the state’s petition for pre-trial detention, they asked for detention without bail for a number of reasons, including the violent nature of the crime, the weight of evidence against Kruse, his history and tendencies, danger posed to the public and himself, and the possibility that Kruse commits additional crimes.
The petition refers to the neighbor’s testimony that they heard two men arguing where one man said, “get off my property...I’m going to blow your [expletive] head off” before a gunshot was heard. The criminal complaint states the victim was shot in the chest and the petition states it was the head.
The detention was granted.
