Haven House needs volunteers for DV awareness month
Haven House needs volunteers in October for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
“Every year, as October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we ‘Purple the Poles’ along roadways in Rio Rancho,” a release from Haven House reads.
This year, poles will be decorated along NM 528, Southern Blvd. and Unser Blvd.
There will be a team meeting at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at the Allstate Insurance Office on Southern Blvd.
“We will start with a releasing of butterflies event and a moment of silence for those lost to domestic violence,” the release states.
After that, people will break into groups to put ribbons on the poles.
They estimate it will take about three hours to decorate the poles. All volunteers will be wearing reflective vests.
Haven House will also need volunteers to help take the ribbons down at 9 a.m. Nov. 4.
