RIO RANCHO — The Rio Rancho Police Department reported Nov. 25 that people in McDonald's and Walgreens at the corner of Northern and Unser boulevards were evacuated the night of Nov. 24 when a vehicle hit one of the Speedway fuel pumps.
"At 6:57 p.m. yesterday evening, RRPD was dispatched to the Speedway regarding a vehicle striking a fuel pump. McDonald's and Walgreens were briefly evacuated as a precaution. The emergency gas shutoff was activated by Speedway staff," Capt. Jacquelynn Reedy confirmed.
The driver was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
"A DWI investigation was initiated on the driver. Charges may be filed pending the results," Reedy added.
