Former Papa Murphy’s employee arrested for embezzlement
Ruben Davis, about 41, of Rio Rancho, was arrested Nov. 14 for an embezzlement that happened Oct. 3-4.
On Oct. 6, the manager at Papa Murphy’s in Enchanted Hills, reported fraud, saying that Davis, a previous employee, had fraudulently refunded nearly $400 to his personal credit card.
The manager sent a transaction report of the fraudulent refunds issued Oct. 3-4, when Davis was the only person certified to use the cash register. He had four refunds that were issued to two credit or debit cards. At approximately 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3, he refunded $83. At around 8 p.m. Oct. 4, he refunded three transactions of $82, $118.99 and $110. He also refunded $60 in cash Oct. 4.
Davis was terminated for the fraudulent transactions.
Officers issued a summons and arrested Davis Nov. 14.
Davis, if convicted, will face anywhere from one to nine years in prison depending on if the charge is deemed a misdemeanor or felony.
