A U.S. Border Patrol anti-smuggling unit, assisted by Homeland Security Investigations, executed a search warrant in Rio Rancho early Thursday morning.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman said that the unit, out of Las Cruces, served the warrant for a suspected human smuggling stash house on Superstition Drive. "The residence involved was being used by a criminal human smuggling organization to harbor non-citizens who were illegally in the United States," he said Thursday afternoon.

Full operation details have not been released.
