December RRPS fine arts packed with holiday cheer

RIO RANCHO — December is the beating heart of the holiday season, so it makes sense that it’s also a big month for fine arts. That’s especially true of the Rio Rancho Public School District, where the crisp winter air will be filled with music and laughter and merriment (along with the scent of hot cocoa and honey-roasted ham.)

The month is already in full swing, so let’s get started.

Music is really the name of the game this month. Some of the musical highlights include the mixed orchestra concert with Rio Rancho High School and Lincoln Middle School happening at RRHS on Dec. 9, the CHS musical theater showcase on Dec. 6 (better hurry), and the mixed choir concert with Cleveland High School and Mountain View Middle School on Dec. 17.

Even the drama programs are getting in on the musical December fun. In addition to Cleveland’s musical theater showcase, on Dec. 11 at the RRHS Performing Arts Center (RRHS PAC), the students will be putting on a series of student-produced opera performances.

It’s a short month with school letting out for winter break, so the events end on Dec. 17, but rest assured, RRPS has plenty to entertain you until then.
