Danny Dines: The Chill Zone

Like I’ve said in the past, I am not afraid of the heat.
Unfortunately, I was referring to food spiciness, not the unbearable temperatures that we have been experiencing for a couple weeks now.
It’s been hot like uncomfortably hot so this week I had to head to the chilliest place in all of Rio Rancho: The Chill Zone.
I got a couple submissions telling me to check out The Chill Zone, and I couldn’t have been happier to stop by.
I am a big fan of The Chill Zone. In fact, I am here a lot during the NFL football season. If the Broncos lose, I have this tradition of eating a ton of frozen yogurt, and frozen yogurt cookie sandwiches. The Broncos lost a lot last season, so yeah …
First off, they have A/C! Yes, I never take an HVAC system for granted. You want to know why? Because I have a swamp cooler, and swamp coolers are the worst.
Anyway, The Chill Zone has multiple flavors of frozen yogurt and sorbet to choose from. You fill up your cup with whatever flavors you want, throw some toppings in there, and weigh it at the register. The possibilities are endless.
My usual go-to is caramel sauce (on the bottom of the cup), vanilla and chocolate swirl, cookie dough, cheesecake bites and whipped cream. I call it the Danny Cup. Took me hours to come up with the name.
However, today I was craving something fruity and refreshing. I ended up getting a pomegranate-mango sorbet swirl with kiwi boba balls, which came out to $5.
Now, that’s the way to beat the heat! Or you can buy an A/C unit. I tell you what, the second I finally can afford to get my own A/C unit, I am recreating that “Office Space” scene with my swamp cooler. If you know, you know.
The sorbet was smooth, creamy and — most importantly — cold! It also had that perfect fruit sweetness and taste. Also, the kiwi boba balls were juicy and tangy.
As always, The Chill Zone comes through for me. If you run into me anywhere, it will probably be here or Target.
Give it a try and fill up a cup!
The Chill Zone also offers frozen yogurt, sorbet, shakes, smoothies, frozen yogurt pies, yo-bars, frozen yogurt cookie sandwiches, cold beverages, candy, cool treats for your dogs and so much more.
They also have game nights, karaoke/dance nights, spirit nights and special deal days.
