Curtains up: RRHS Fall play opens tonight!
Emma by Kate Hamill will be performed by the RRHS theater troupe Oct. 17-19 at the RRHS Performing Arts Center.
RIO RANCHO (Oct. 17, 2024) - The Rio Rancho High School theater troupe is opening "Emma", this year's Fall play tonight at 7 p.m. at the RRHS Performing Arts Center.
"Emma", by Kate Hamill, is a hilarious retelling of Jane Austen's classic romance of the same name. The play tells the story of Emma Woodhouse, a young matchmaker who somewhat-inadvertently stumbles into love herself.
"The students have been working since August to bring this show together," said RRHs drama director Gael Natal. "About 100 kids have helped build sets, sew costumes [and] make props. [That's] not counting the hours of work for the actors."
The RRHS theater troupe will have four performances of "Emma" this weekend:
- Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. (matinee)
- Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.
RRHS students and staff get in free. Seniors and all other students are $8. Admission for adults is $10. All matinee tickets on Sunday are $5.
Next up, the troupe will be putting on "The SpongeBob Musical" in April.
