Couple’s fight at Haynes Park ends with man’s arrest

Brian Tepper, about 36, of Rio Rancho, was arrested for battery against a household member and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer at Haynes Park on Sept. 20.

At 5:15 p.m., an officer responded to the park due to a report that a male and female were fighting and that the male had hit the female.

The female told officers that the male, Tepper, was in his vehicle and had access to weapons. Officers saw him with a large knife and asked hime to step out of the car. Tepper pulled away from officers and refused to get out of the vehicle, so they had to forcibly .

The woman, Tepper’s fiancee, who had a bruised right eye, said that they had been arguing in the park, though the details kept changing.

The witness who called in the altercation told officers that Tepper punched the woman in the face multiple times during the fight. The witness said that the two parties separated and started to leave the park, with officers arrived shortly after.

If convicted, Tepper could serve three or more years in jail for the charges listed above.
