County wins first audit and accountability award

Sandoval County won its first audit and accountability award at the state level during Thursday’s New Mexico Counties Legislative Conference, according to a press release from NMC.

NMC and State Auditor Brian Colón presented awards to Sandoval County and six other New Mexico counties for their work on financial audits for Fiscal Year 2020, per the release. The release also said a good audit reflects a county’s strong finance department, elected officials and management.

The County had zero findings with an unmodified opinion, according to the release.
