SANTO DOMINGO PUEBLO — The Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman at the Phillip’s 66 Gas Station just off of Interstate 25 north of Santo Domingo Pueblo. The gas station is a common stop for gas for commuters.

According to a criminal complaint filed in the magistrate court, Rosanna Medina, 41, of Chacon, was detained for trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine at the gas station Oct. 5.

Police were called by the gas station manager, who saw Medina in the bathroom with “a bunch of drugs.” When county police arrived, Medina was talking with Bureau of Indian Affairs officers and admitted the drugs in the bathroom were hers. Police checked her vehicle and saw more suspected fentanyl pills that she also admitted were hers.

She also told police that the bag she was attempting to flush was bad and said there was more fentanyl — and meth — in her car.

After obtaining a search warrant for the car, police found a total of 1,958 fentanyl pills, several grams of meth and a large amount of cash in the car.

Trafficking is a second-degree felony in New Mexico, so if Medina is convicted, she will face nine-plus years in prison.
