County sets up agreement with prisoner meal services

The Sandoval County Commissioners awarded a bid for prisoner meal and commissary services to two vendors, Trinity Service Group and Keefe, on Sept. 25.

The Sandoval County Detention Center Warden Gilbert Armendariz says the request for proposal was advertised Aug. 4 with responses due on Sept. 5. Two responses were received and were reviewed Sept. 10. Armendariz says the RFP selection committee selected Trinity Service Group and Keefe as they felt the criteria set in the RFP was met.

"They're both experts in the field, they both have, I believe, over 200-300 facilities across the country that they serve both detention centers and prisons," Armendariz said. "We provide the equipment and then they make the food," he added.

Commissioners passed the motion for the award unanimously.
