County opens wildfire protection plan to public for review
BERNALILLO — Sandoval County Emergency Management announced May 5 that the public review period of the draft of the 2025 Sandoval County Community Wildfire Protection Plan has started and will run through May 19.
The county said the plan was prepared by the with SWCA Environmental consultants and in collaboration with other community partners. It is an update to the 2012 plan, which was initially developed in 2008.
"This is a collaborative effort to enhance the safety and resilience of our communities from uncharacteristic wildfires," the county said in a press release. "The plan aims to identify and address vulnerabilities while emphasizing the protection of lives, property and valued resources."
Sandoval County encourages all community members and stakeholders to review the draft 2025 CWPP and provide feedback at the provided website.
