BERNALILLO — After nearly 35 years at Sandoval County as the assistant public works director, Rosanne Gomez is retiring.
Sandoval County commissioners and Public Works staff celebrated her years of service at a regular commission meeting June 25. Gomez’s last day was June 27.
“I would like to say thank you to everybody from Sandoval County for a great 34 years. Yes, there’s been ups and downs, but and all in all, it’s been a great place to work for, and I’m happy that I’m retiring from here,” Gomez said.
County Chair Mike Meek congratulated her on her retirement.
“You made it to the end zone,” he said.
County Manager Wayne Johnson also took a minute to compliment Gomez’s work there.
“She’s in a very difficult position, and oftentimes she gets high-rate phone calls from people who ask for certain things that the county can’t give,” he said.
He also said she always had a smile on her face while doing her job.
