County approves health care assistance program payment plan

BERNALILLO — The Sandoval County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a request for motion to adopt a resolution that will adopt Sandoval County’s fiscal year 2026 health care assistance program payment plan.

Community Services Director Jayme Espinoza said it establishes a plan based on poverty guidelines at both the state and federal levels.

“We are seeing an increase every year ... with the new changes at the end of FY 26 to Medicaid,” she said. “We are expecting a really big increase to our indigent fund, and this year we are seeing another increase into Medicaid.”

Espinoza’s staff do the indigent enrollment as well as Medicaid enrollment.

Commissioner Jon Herr asked for a future report on how many people rely on the program.
