Commission gets roads update

BERNALILLO — The Sandoval County Commission received an update from the county public works department on county roads during its March 26 meeting.

Assistant public works director Roseanne Gomez and project manager David Martinez gave the presentation on road projects from the years 2023-25.

Among the completed projects are the County Road 11 bridge in Cuba, the Camino a Las Estrellas Drainage improvement in Placitas and the Camino Del Bosque Road improvement in Bernalillo.

The projects currently under construction are the Hidden Valley Bridge replacement in La Cueva and the Bosque Loop phase two improvement project in Bernalillo. Both are expected to be completed this spring.

Bosque Loop and Guadalupe Road phase three project is currently in planning phases along with Placitas West project, the Sage Hills, Dusty Trails, Trails Road East and Doorco Way project in addition to more improvements to the County Road 11 bridge.

Paseo Del Volcan’s extension is awaiting more funding before it proceeds.

According to a presentation from the Public Works Department, funding for all projects will come from:

• Co-Op Funds, which consist of Capital Improvement Project, School Bus Routes, and Special Projects, which are awarded to the county by the state.

• Transportation Project Funding, which is awarded to the county through Mid-Region Council of Governments.

• Local county capital funding.

• Local county road maintenance budget.

• Federal funding from the Bridge Bureau and Federal Highway Administration.

• Legislative appropriations, federal level.
