Commission approves appointment of member to UNMH board
Appointee Erik Lujan
BERNALILLO— The Sandoval County Commission approved the appointment of Erik Lujan to the University of New Mexico Health Board of Trustees per recommendation from the SRMC Board of Advisors at the Aug. 13 commission meeting.
“It’s up to us to select from the advisory board at SRMC, a member department of Sandoval County for the UNMH Board of Trustees. It’s a very important role. It’s actually pretty time consuming,” County Manager Wayne Johnson said.
This isn’t Lujan’s first time on the board.
“I’ve served on the trustees before, and I really enjoyed my time there. It is time consuming and very important work, and I’m glad to be recommended,” he said.
He also said if people need to contact him for anything.t
Chair Mike Meek had praise for Lujan on the appointment.
“You did come with high recommendation. I do appreciate you, your time and involvement in representing Sandoval County,” he said.
Commissioner Katherine Bruch also commended Lujan for serving.
“Thank you so much for wanting to do this work and and serve this capacity,” she said.
According to the UNMH website, the Board of Trustees oversees the hospital’s clinical operations to ensure it can keep providing high-quality care and supporting education and research at the university’s Health Sciences Center.
“The board’s members must represent the diverse community the hospital serves,” it reads.
