Collision causes Southern Blvd to shut down

Update: The road re-opened around 1 a.m. July 25.

Previous information: According to the Rio Rancho Police Department, Southern Blvd. is closed from Pinetree Road to NM 528 due to a serious collision.

It is unclear when it will open back up.

“The details of the crash are still being investigated. One adult with critical injuries was taken to UNM trauma; one juvenile was transported as well,” Capt. Jacqueline Reedy of RRPD said.

Police ask that people use alternate routes.
