CHS Speaker Series presents ‘What’s in a Name?’
As part of the Corrales Historical Society Speaker Series, Elaine BrisenÌo , a columnist for the Albuquerque Journal, will speak at the Old Church in Corrales at 2 p.m. Nov. 19.
“This well- known columnist … will explore some of most memorable topics covered in the Albuquerque Journal’s ‘What’s in a Name’ column that is published the first Sunday of every month. Learn about the state’s past citizens and why names like KiMo, Huning, Coors, Girard, Manzano and much more are part of our everyday vernacular,” a release states.
BrisenÌo has been a working journalist for more than two decades. She began writing the “What’s in a Name” column in 2019, almost 20 years after starting as a journalist. The column delves into New Mexico history.
BrisenÌo left the Journal in 2022 (but still writes her monthly column) and is currently a full-time reporter for Law360 covering sports and betting litigation, and mergers and acquisitions.
Admission is free, but seats are limited.
