RIO RANCHO — The Rio Rancho Police Department was once again helping spread holiday cheer with a Christmas tree giveaway Friday, Dec. 20.

“I was contacted about a week and a half ago by Ezee Fiber. They are doing a great gesture, which is giving out trees to those families that can’t afford a tree for Christmas,” RRPD Community Relations Officer Daisy Gomez said. “So, we are here with them for support.”

Gomez offered Ezee Fiber the RRPD parking lot as a pickup spot for the trees, and the partnership was born.

Not only did Ezee Fiber give away trees but they also gave away ornaments, and public safety aides helped load the trees into cars.

“Ezee Fiber, your local internet provider, is proud to partner with the Rio Rancho Police Department today to give away over 30 free trees, helping low-income families and giving back to the community we call home,” company representative Andres Torres said.

“I saw the post announcement on the Facebook page of the Rio Rancho Police Department,” said Ivan Bowekaty, who came to get a tree for his grandkids. “I think for us it is a little easier because for us, we got four grandkids. We were wanting to go to Lowe’s and check those out but then we heard about this.”
