David Romero, 38 and Isaiah Romero, 31, of Cuba were arrested December 18 at the corner of Sundt Rd. and Pumice Dr. for intoxication charges among other things. David was arrested for unlawful carry of a deadly weapon, negligent use of a deadly weapon by intoxication, resisting arrest and possession of a firearm or destructive device. Isaiah was arrested for negligent use of a deadly weapon by intoxication and two counts of battery upon a peace officer.

Dispatch advised officers in the area of a resident calling about a car that had crashed into their front yard. They told dispatch two men got out of the vehicle and left it there.

Officers found the two men, identified as the Romeros, walking in the area of Sundt and Pumice. When officers talked to them they saw that David had red marks on his face, which was a sign that he had been in an accident. Both David and Isaiah denied ever being in a vehicle and said they were walking away from a party while they waited for a ride.

Officers separated the two to talk to them. While an officer was talking to David, the other officer was arresting Isaiah for carrying a gun.

David was then told to turn around so the officer could arrest him. David then reportedly became resistant and started yelling at the officer. He attempted to pull away from the officer. The officer thought he might have a gun as well so they used a baton to get him to the ground.

While the officer searched David, they found a small Ruger SR 22 in his pocket.

David was read his rights. He admitted to the officer that he didn’t want to talk and tried to get away because he saw his brother getting cuffed and wanted to fight for him.

The crashed vehicle came back as registered to Isaiah. David still insisted they were never in the vehicle though.

Meanwhile, Isaiah admitted to drinking, owning the vehicle and owning a gun. He was placed in the back of an officer’s vehicle while both officers tried to wrangle David. Isaiah got agitated with the officers as they were putting David in the vehicle and started kicking the officers. He struck them multiple times.

Officers ran David’s information and found he had been released on probation for felony charges.

Isaiah, if convicted, will face up to 4 years in prison. David could face more than 5 years in prison if he is convicted.
