Bosque opens as crews clear barricades, investigation still underway

The bosque in Rio Rancho is now open to the public, but a cause and suspect are yet to be identified.

According to the city of Rio Rancho, the Rio Rancho Bosque Fire is 100% contained, and as of 9 a.m. May 22, the bosque is again open to the public. Crews will be clearing the barricades throughout the day.

"The cause of this fire is still currently under investigation in collaboration with Rio Rancho Police Department and Rio Rancho Fire & Rescue Fire Marshal’s office. If anyone has any information in relation to this fire, please reach out to Rio Rancho Fire Marshal 505-891-5924 or jawenzel@rrnm.gov," the release reads.

RRFR recommends all residents to be mindful of the high fire danger and refrain from any open flames or burning while enjoying the bosque.
