The Mayor’s Sunday is Funday on Aug. 20 was hot, loud and full of fun.

“We have a great turnout today. We appreciate all the volunteers that have participated in making this happen,” Sandoval County Commissioner and event organizer Dave Heil said.

On the 18th anniversary of the event, Haynes Park was full of tents and more than 110 vendors as the Rio Rancho High School marching band played on the stage.

Mayor Gregg Hull made sure to visit each vendor’s tent.

“We’re all here to celebrate who we are as a community,” Hull said.

Heil was pleased with the turnout. While he said they had to take some time to tally the number of visitors, which usually runs in the thousands, he said the numbers looked great.

“It was a fun day for a whole lot of people,” he said as the event drew to a close.
