Something wicked this way comes, and it's Halloween. Along with it the Nextdoor app has its treat map up, ready to help people to determine where they should go for trick-or-treating.

The neighborhood network has been doing the Treat Map for 12 years, serving as an interactive guide to local festivities as neighbors show and share their plans for the once-a-year celebration of neighborhood spirit.

So far, in Rio Rancho, all main neighborhoods have pins dropped. Northern Meadows, Mariposa and Loma Colorado are the ones who have the most pins dropped so far.

"Through October 31, neighbors can drop a themed pin on the Treat Map for their home or local business to indicate their plans to decorate or hand out candy for Halloween. To inspire others to get in on the fun, neighbors can add images and text to their pins to help inform visitors, from photos of frightfully festive decor, to their plans to give the ultimate Halloween handout: king-sized candy bars," it reads on the Nextdoor website.

According to the website, the Treat Map can be a helpful tool for charting families' trick-or-treat routes.

"With Halloween falling on a school night this year, parents can refer to the Treat Map to find nearby hotspots for trick-or-treating to ensure a fun and efficient evening for their families," it reads.

Neighbors can find the Treat Map now on the Nextdoor app or by visiting nextdoor.com/treat_map.
