The Sandoval County Sheriff's Posse Rodeo Aug. 16 audience was hot, sweaty and loud. The riders were, too.

As the evening darkened, riders showcased their skills in bull riding, calf tie downs and more. The crowd cheered vicariously as some riders succeeded in their pursuits and others pridefully shook off the dust anyway.

"I enjoy going to rodeos because I love the action," Moriah Benavidez of Rio Rancho said.

She added that the event is appealing because of the friendly competition and each rider's skill gets a spotlight.

Erik Armijo, also at the rodeo, says he has been to many rodeos.

"I enjoyed it. There were a lot of talented bull riders," he said.

The annual event was a success despite the heat.
