For one day, New Mexicans can go to Balloon Fiesta free this year.
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta Inc., announced that Monday, Oct. 7, will be New Mexico Day at the Balloon Fiesta. New Mexico residents who show either a photo ID or a utility bill with a New Mexico address will receive free admission to flying events.
“Balloon Fiesta is so appreciative of the support this event receives throughout our state. Allowing residents into Balloon Fiesta free on October 7 is our way of saying thank you,” board President Judy Nakamura said.
The Balloon Fiesta’s volunteer board of directors unanimously voted for New Mexico Day.
Active-duty military are encouraged to show their military identification cards at a ticket booth, and children ages 12 and under are free. There will still be a charge for parking.
Tickets for the 52nd Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, set for Oct. 5-13, will go on sale 9 a.m. April 5. Tickets for all flying events will be on sale, including Monday’s general admission tickets; however, the New Mexico Day tickets will only be available on Oct. 7 at a Balloon Fiesta ticket booth. No rainchecks or refunds will apply for New Mexico Day tickets.
