Mariposa Harvest Festival to feature arts in community

The Mariposa Community and Mariposa Artists in Rio Rancho are hosting the fourth annual Mariposa Harvest Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24.

According to the Mariposa Artists marketing consultant Wendy Ward, more than 60 vendors and a variety of food trucks will be present.

She and other artists will showcase their art in the community center.

"Support local art. We put a lot of effort and love into what we create," she said.

Ward, an artist herself, chooses collage and mixed media art as her medium. Other artists will be showcasing some other types of fine art like painting or mixed media, jewelry making and other crafts like woodwork.

There will also be a raffle of art and craft items, a kids' art table and an acoustic guitar performance from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the community center. Vendors will be offering fine art, jewelry and metal works in the park and community center.
