Danny Dines: Cerealsly Sweet

What if I told you that there was a place where you can eat cereal-infused ice cream? This is not the Matrix; I’m 100% cereal, and that place is Cerealsly Sweet.

Cerealsly Sweet is a local food truck that combines cereal and ice cream to make a one-of-a-kind cold treat.

Some of the cereals included in their ice cream are Fruity Pebbles, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese's Puffs, Captain Crunch and tons more.

I do want to apologize to any Grape Nuts fans, specifically my dad, because they don’t have any ice cream with Grape Nuts, nor should they. Sorry. Growing up, my parents never bought any of the fun cereals; they just bought Grape Nuts, and now I hold a grudge.

Over the past couple of months, I got more than 20 submissions to check this place out. So, I decided to hop on my bicycle (car's in the shop again) and try some of their unique ice cream.

“It's incredible that we just opened not only a year ago and have that kind of support,” owner Lyndsi Pino said. Pino owns Cerealsly Sweet along with her husband, Nick Pino.

I was able to catch Cerealsly Sweet at the Paradise Hills Little League fields, and I wanted to try everything on the menu.

Some of their items include ice cream nachos, ice cream cookie sandwiches, and their signature ice cream swirls. The signature swirls available that day were the Cookie Monster swirl, the Captain Jack swirl, the Fruity Berries swirl, the Campfire swirl, the "Cinnacrisp" swirl, and the PB Crunch swirl.

Every signature swirl features a unique combination of ice cream, cereal and other toppings. You can order a signature swirl in a cup, a cone or as a milkshake.

With some help from their experts, I ordered their ice cream nachos, and their Fruity Berries signature swirl in a waffle cone, which I was told is one of their most popular items.

The Fruity Berries signature swirl is a blend of Fruity Pebbles, strawberries and blueberries. The swirl is then topped with sliced bananas, Teddy Grahams and whipped cream. For the finishing touch, the swirl is drizzled with honey.

The ice cream nachos features a bed of creamy vanilla ice cream surrounded with buttery waffle cone chips. The scoops of ice cream are then topped with fresh strawberries, chocolate drizzle, caramel drizzle, mixed nuts, sprinkles, whipped cream and a cherry.

The first item to come out was the ice cream nachos, and I have never been so excited to eat nachos!

The ice cream was creamy, and combining the creaminess with the crunch of the buttery waffle cone chips was heavenly. The freshness of the strawberries with the chocolate drizzle gave each bite tang, sweetness and juice. I ate the entire thing, and at that moment everything in my life was pure happiness. Nothing in my life could be more perfect than ice cream nachos.

Next, came the Fruity Berries signature swirl in a waffle cone. The presentation was spectacular. A fresh cone filled with very colorful ice cream, decorated beautifully with fresh bananas, Teddy Grahams, whipped cream and the honey was a nice touch (and an underrated ice cream topping). This was delicious in every sense of the word. Every taste had sweet creamy ice cream, delicious cereal crunch and the fresh taste of good ole’ fruit.

I ate everything. This was probably the most ice cream I have ever eaten in my life, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Cerealsly Sweet does ice cream the right way, and I have no doubt in my mind that large portions of my paycheck will go to them in the near future. I may have a problem.
