County organizations invite public to celebrate Art NM! next month
Creative New Mexico, New Mexico’s arts advocacy organization, and Rio Rancho Creative Crossroad are sponsoring a community celebration of arts and culture from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at the Sandoval County Administration Building in Bernalillo.
“Every community does their own thing. There’s a jazz festival in Farmington, an art crawl in Gallup, and community art shows in Roswell and Sandoval County — all taking place on April 13,” Creative New Mexico board member Mary Lyle said.
Later in the month, Taos will participate in the “Invent Event,” Hatch Public Library hosts “REFORMA de Neuvo Mexico,” a bilingual literacy program, and Artesia presents a “Beat Poetry” night.
Neal Shotwell, executive director of Rio Rancho Creative Crossroads, was in charge of securing a venue for the local event.
“The Sandoval County Administration Building vestibule is an expansive, light-filled space, which is the perfect setting for our art show,” Shotwell said.
There will be more than 30 vendors and nonprofits on hand providing visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the diverse creative resources that are available in the community.
“Dogs for a Cause” food truck will be there as well.
Funding for Art NM! comes, in part, from a grant from New Mexico Arts, a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.
