Happy 248th birthday, America.

The village of Corrales will be celebrating the Fourth of July with several special events, including its annual July 4th Parade.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. at Corrales Elementary and will feature horses, marching bands, antique cars, tractors and more. During the parade, there will be a dry section and the wet section, where spectators will be sprayed with water to cool down.

The parade route ends at the Corrales Recreation Center at 11 a.m.

Tomorrow, we are celebrating the 248th birthday of our country. Many of us are fortunate to celebrate with family and participate in or watch the Corrales July 4th Parade. We are very fortunate to live in this community where it appears more people are in the parade than watching it,” Corrales Mayor Jim Fahey said. “Corraleños are very involved in their community, where it all began, what we are doing now, and what we will do in the future. Being successful in those endeavors is why people outside of Corrales want to visit and participate in our various celebrations. The biggest reason for the success of Corrales is the volunteers who support and direct many of the activities in the village. Not only is this a time to be thankful for the freedoms of our country, but also thankful for the community where we live and for the diversity of that community.”

Food trucks and ice cream booths will be at the end of the parade. There will also be a barbecue fundraiser for the Friends of Corrales Library at La Entrada Park. All proceeds will go toward the Corrales Community Library.
