Belly dancing classes return for the summer
Sizzling Egyptian belly dancing is back in Rio Rancho this summer for classes.
The new eight-week belly dance fundamentals class begins June 6 at All Around Dance Studio, 1009 Golf Course Road SE.
During this series, participants will learn essential techniques of traditional Egyptian-style belly dance, with a focus on “sizzling” veil moves.
“Veils add an alluring, dramatic and elegant element to your dance,” says Belly Dance A Go Go instructor Theresa Sherman.
She says veils and coin hip belts will be available to borrow.
By the end of the series, Sherman says participants will be comfortable combining fundamental belly dance moves and feel energized “knowing you are a beautiful belly dancer.”
“Belly dance is a lively and expressive, yet low-impact, form of movement that fits every age, body type and fitness level. Belly dance helps improve self-confidence while you become more comfortable with your body, improve your mobility, flexibility and posture. But most importantly, it is a great way to have fun, meet friends and be a part of a unique community in a supportive, non-judgmental environment,” she added.
Belly dance, or Raqs Sharqi, is an ancient art form with roots in Egypt that has traveled worldwide during the past century and is now a global spectacle.
This class doesn’t require previous experience nor prerequisites.
