Astronomical Society discussing white dwarf stars next meeting
The Rio Rancho Astronomical Society is hosting its monthly meeting Friday, Aug. 9 at Rainbow Park Observatory, 301 Southern Blvd.
This month, the society has invited graduate research assistant Malia Kao from from the University of Texas McDonald Observatory.
Kao will be speaking about her research on dwarf white stars "and what they can tell us about the future of our solar system," secretary of the RRAS, Maggie Velte, said in a press release.
The meeting is free and open to the public. It will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Afterward, if weather permits, telescopes will be available for public stargazing.
