1. Lights of Gisewa is coming back to Jemez Historic Site from 5-9 p.m. Dec. 13-14.
The Lights of Gisewa is one of New Mexico Historic Sites’ (NMHS) most beloved holiday activities with hundreds of people visiting for the tradition.
The event will feature many vendors from nearby pueblos who will sell food, arts and crafts.
The remains of Gisewa Pueblo and San José de los Jemez Mission will be decorated with farolitos; patrons can also enjoy live music and dance performances.
Tickets are $20 per adult, $10 per child, and are sold online at timed entry segments.
Admission is free for the Museum of New Mexico Foundation members, Friends of Coronado and Jemez members, Native/Tribal affiliations, disabled veterans, and foster families.

The NMHS requests that guests refrain from the use of tripods and flash photography. Also, for the safety of animals and guests, pets are not allowed at this event, though service animals are welcome.
2. Heartstrings Theatre Company of Corrales will present “Disney’s Frozen Jr.” at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13-15 and 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at the African American Performing Arts Center (AAPAC), 310 San Pedro Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
This musical adaptation of the beloved Disney classic tells the tale of Elsa and Anna as they journey through love, loss and sisterhood in the magical kingdom of Arendelle. The production features a cast of local children and teens, making it a perfect holiday event for families and fans of all ages.
“We are overjoyed to bring Frozen Jr. to the African American Performing Arts Center,” said Kim Rothwell, board president of Heartstrings Theatre Company. “This partnership allows us to amplify our shared mission of celebrating diversity and creativity while ensuring every child has the opportunity to discover the joy of theatre.”

3. The Festival of the Nativities tradition in Corrales is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 14-15 at the Old San Ysidro Church.
There will be more than 100 special nativities, also called crèches or “Nacimientos,” from around the world.
All nativities will reflect a local cultural view from a particular place and time.
The event is free, but donations are welcome. Donations will go to preservation and maintenance of the Old Church and for hosting next year’s Festival of the Nativities.
Additionally, after the event, the poinsettias decorating the Old Church will be shared with homebound Sandoval County residents.
4. Wreaths Across America will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 14 at the San Ysidro Catholic Cemetery in Corrales. All are invited to attend and pray for veterans in the cemetery, and families of veterans will be given a wreath to place at the graves of their loved ones.

5. A fundraising event to support the Miller and Paredes families is set for 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 15 at the ABQ Food Park.
Francisco Paredes, Craig Miller Sr., Craig Miller Jr., Laila Miller, and the Millers’ unborn child all died as a result of an accident on King Boulevard last month. Miller’s wife and the two surviving children were also hospitalized with injuries.
Eighteen food trucks will be in attendance. Also, a bounce house, games, music will be on site, and 10% of all proceeds will go to helping both families.
The food park is located at 6901 San Antonio Drive NE in Albuquerque. Food trucks in attendance include Mobiyaki, Takoroto, Mugsys, Fusion tacos, A+plus Crepes, BYOMAC&CHEESE, SIPPS LEMONADE, Vada Chennai, Ruby Reds vegan, Street Food Institute, Randi’s Food Truck, Los Alebrijes, Sourpuss Lemonade, Mimi’s Sweet Treats, Wanna Taco Bout Burgers, Smoking Wet BBQ, Nico’s Street Food, Brunch Bunch Food Truck, Zia Strong Snac Shac, Madonna’s Muffins, Simply Delicious, Desserts & Coffee, Madhouse Mama Soaps, Kool Sips, and Jody’s Glass & Resin Art.
