CORRALES — The Viva Corrales! celebration continued the weekend of May 3-4 with the Corrales Society of Artists annual art studio tour.

Jenn Noel, President of the CSA, stated in a pamphlet that in its 27th year, the studio tour has 84 artists, five galleries and more than 50 contributions from the Corrales Elementary students. The tour included dozens of venues, both in-home studios and local galleries.

“This tour is a celebration of the arts and artists in the Corrales area which allows you to engage with the artists in an intimate setting,” Noel said.

She added that it is a unique opportunity for people to discover the range of artistic styles and mediums from the village.

The starting point and preview gallery at the Old San Ysidro Church was just the tip of the paint brush with a selection of works varying in style, color and size. The gallery there featured art from all participating artists.

“Visiting private studios and galleries offers a rare chance to see artists in their natural creative environments, providing insight into their artistic processes and inspirations,” Noel said. “It fosters personal connections with the artists, enhancing your appreciation of their work and offering stories that make each piece even more meaningful.”

Arts included photography, painting, jewelry, wood work, ceramics, digital art, metal work, fiber work, quilting and more with venues all over the Corrales corridor and in many residential spaces.

The tour also remembered two Corraleño artists who have passed. Ivana Starcevic, who was a member of the Corrales Society of Artists, was an award-winning artist, according to the artisan brochure.

“Her paintings, rich in color, movement, and energy, captured the essence of raw landscapes, radiant light, and the brilliant hues of the New Mexico sky,” it reads.

Ken Duckert, who was also remembered, was a former Corrales Society of Artists president and studio tour director.

“As an accomplished photographer, Ken had a keen eye for the beauty of wildlife and nature,” the brochure reads.

The two-day tour brought people out in droves to wander Corrales, searching for art.

May 10 marks the next part of Viva Corrales!, highlighting the annual bird walk, small business day and more.
