Dia De Los Muertos subject of next CHS speaker series
The next Corrales Historical Society speaker series presentation will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 20, and it's all about Dia de Los Muertos.
According to a release, first-time CHS presenter and local resident Michael Heralda will share a presentation titled, “The Origins of Dia de Los Muertos.”
"He will reveal the foundation, ancient concepts and beliefs regarding this topic from an indigenous perspective. The stories explored will enlighten the audience regarding indigenous philosophical concepts with the goal to have a greater appreciation and understanding of this very ancient and personal ceremony," an event description reads.
The presentation is timed to precede the actual contemporary dates of the Dia de Los Muertos celebration Nov. 1-2.
The release says this was done to assist those interested in preparing a meaningful offering/ofrenda at home honoring their departed loved ones.
