Corrales prepares for Harvest Festival
A scene from the 2024 Corrales Harvest Fest.
The Corrales Harvest Festival is set for Sept. 28-29, and the Village Council approved a resolution to co-sponsoring the event with the Kiwanis Club of Corrales during its Aug. 27 meeting.
"The unique and valuable assets of the Village of Corrales are the harvest, the farmers, their labor and the crops that result from the harvest and labor," the resolution states.
It also reads that the festival benefits the village by bringing educational demonstrations, displays of traditional crafts, visitors and tourists to the village.
"The rural character of the Village of Corrales is maintained and accomplished by teaching and encouraging the traditions and dedication of such activities," it continues.
The event will stretch on Corrales Road from La Entrada to the north property boundary of the Sandia Bar, which recently re-opened, Sept. 28-29. That stretch of road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Then, the road will be closed from Coronado Road to Old Church Road that Sunday from 8:45-10 a.m. for the pet parade.
There will also be designated parking areas near the recreation center.
This event has been held since 1985 to promote and develop the history and character of Corrales through a yearly educational and recreational event that showcases the local agriculture, merchants, artwork, performing arts and historic culture.
